A Failing Heart Creates A Broken Heart

.

The heart has reasons that reason cannot know.

~~ Blaise Pascal, French Mathematician, Physicist, Inventor, Writer, and Christian Philosopher, 1623 - 1662

.

It is not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters.

~~ Epictetus, Greek Sage and Stoic Philosopher, born a slave, AD 55 – AD 135

What the...? Who are you? And why is this photo askew?

So the Kung Fu Bunnies sent a witch to take my color. Very interesting. It must have been because of that bunny leg.

Suka remembering last month...Hello! What have we here? *drool...yum.

GIVE ME BACK MY COLOR!!!!

Did it work? I am afraid to open my eyes.

Oh my dawg. It worked! Look at all the lovely colors! Ha! I defeated you witch! Now please go and take your creatures with you.

Now, about those Kung Fu Bunnies...

~~ MOMENT OF BEAUTY ~~

Paolo Morando Cavazzola, Saint Roch, circa 1518 (National Gallery, London, England) [Note: St. Roch is the Patron Saint of Dogs, the Plague, Pestilence, and more.]

Bartolomé Esteban Murillo, Saint John of God {Aiding the Lame with the Archangel Raphael}, circa 1672 (Museo Municipal de l’Almodi, Xátiva, Spain) [St. John of God is the Patron Saint of Heart Patients, the Sick, and more; Archangel Raphael is the Patron Saint of Bodily Ills, Sick People, and more.]

Back to me...
.

If you live to be 100, I hope I live to be 100 minus 1 day, so I never have to live without you.

~~ Winnie The Pooh

I am sure you are wondering about the title of this post. Well, here is the poop scoop.

I saw the Vet on Friday. I have heart disease. He said it is incurable and that it will only get worse. We don't know how much time I have left. The Vet said anywhere from a few weeks to a few years.

It makes me very sad. So sad that I did not even care that I got rained on, hence my disheveled look.

I won't let my sadness take over. It is almost Winter which means I can look forward to snow. Lots of snow (paws crossed!). Nothing makes me happier than romping in snow.

Truth be told, I don't have much energy anymore, and I cough and hack a lot. I am still eating, but hardly anything. I have lost a lot of weight.

My failing heart has broken K's heart. I woofed to her not to worry. We both believe in miracles, they happen all the time. Perhaps a miracle will happen to me.

Having this disease feels like I am in a prison, and I don't like that. I miss my walks and my runs and playing and just having fun. Porgy is very angry. He already suffered through the death of one dog and he is not ready to let me go so easily. I think stupid Mr. Heart Disease better watch out for Porgy.

We estimate that I am only about 10 years old, so we feel that is much too young for me to have a death sentence. I have a lot of life left to live and I am not ready to leave. But, if God needs another Angel Dog by His side, I will gladly fulfill my duty. I just hope He is not ready for me yet. I still have my Bucket List to get through. And those Kung Fu Bunnies to deal with. I'm just sayin'...

Oh Suka, this post makes us very sad. We are going to invoke the power of the paws for you for this to be a matter of years and not weeks. Please give K some snooter smoochies from each of us - we know how much her heart must be aching. Big hugs to both of you.

I am so sad for you. I pray Suka has no pain and that if a miracle can happen, that it will.

Do you remember our Henry? His photo is on my sidebar.

He had the same problem. We gave him meds that helped him some but like the vet told you, incurable.

Love is bittersweet. Focus on the sweet during this bitter time and know that others care and understand.

Dear Suka, we read the title and knew it had to be bad news. What can we do but send you our love and our very best hopes that you can find some contentment despite your now more restricted activities.
We hope that K has taken your 'not to worry' message on board, although you must understand that it will be difficult for her.
Sending lots of love and hugs from Scotland.

Oh, Suka, this post breaks my heart, too. But, it also gives me hope that you are gonna fight the good fight! I thinks that stupid Heart Disease is gonna be soooo afraid of Porgy, that it's not gonna visit again any time soon!
I'll be keepin' my paws crossed for you and your family.
Strength in numbers and all....

Suka....this is so sad and I hate sad news so we'll be looking on the bright side. You still have lots of time left. Our Min Pin, Serena, had severe heart disease and at one time was only given 24 hours to live. (Yes, I said hours). She went on and lived a very happy life for over 3 more years. During that time she got bone cancer and also went blind, but her heart did good. Yours will too. But we're sending prayers and good vibes to you anyway.

:o)

No White Dog sadness for you, dearest friend! We send you strength and hope and the energy of miracles and the audacity to demand life!

No one is ever guaranteed time. We all could potentially have only weeks or years. Don't focus on that. Think about what you can do to make every day the best it can possibly be. Don't give up NOW worrying about what might be around the corner.

Walk slower, rest when you must, eat less but keep howling at the full moon and sniffing the snow in the air. If you are not ready to leave and you believe that you will keep on living.

We walk by your side, as always. confident in our belief and strong in our commitment to you. You can lean on us when you get weary. We beleive in miracles...and dignity...and the power of the mind...and mostly, love. The White Dog Army

We are sorry to read this. Our Pippinpumpkin has the same problem. Several months ago she was prescribed Fortekor and frusemide. The hacking which is related to the heart condition has nearly stopped and at 15 years old she has had what appears to be new lease of life. We send healing paw and best wishes. Molly

I'm like the lone stinker, always pooing on someone's lawn and leaving, then not being seen for a long time. Usually when I decide to pop my chubby self back into the blog world, I seem to have missed a lot. This is probably the worst news I've gotten! I saw this post and it broke my little tiny heart. I was using the power of the paw to give you comfort and strength during the remainder of your life only to find out from Khyra that you have already crossed the bridge.

I guess crossing the bridge isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's just the next chapter in a doggie's life, but it doesn't make it easy for us who are still here. Lots of licks and kisses to your human K and Porgy.

All I know is that I'm happy that you were amongst my paw-see of poochie pals. You have always taken the time to read my silly/random/pointless posts and always encouraged me to come back hehe. It just won't be the same without you and know that you are and will forever be missed...A LOT!

You are one of my best paw pals, "just sayin'"

-love Alfie
